Buchele lock

Has anyone here had any experiance with this lock? It has a 107 stamped on the backside of the bolster and made in Italy stamped on the backside of the lock plate. Someone at the club gave it to me and couldnt remember wher he got it and I am wondering if it is worth spending time on. Thank you for any input.

Sounds like it is most likely an Italian copy of a hand made lock by Wm. Buchele.  He was a well known maker in the 50-70's (dates may be off a bit).  He made a number of rifles including hand made locks, as ready made locks were few and far between back then.
He also wrote a well known "how to build" book that many are still using today.
Can't say much about the quality of the actual lock which you have.

But I do know that Mr. Buchele was not Italian.

Basically, an Italian import of the time. Using working  parts to make molds results in a product vastly inferior to the original. How good it is or wether it can be made better, I don't know, but I doubt it.
