What is your question about a Y inlet? I have a stylistic Y if you will on this piece.
The rifle in the second picture is built by Hiriam Clark. The blurry pic is of the silver inlay having lifted out of the inelt. You can see that it is not very thick at all at .025 by caliper.

Thanks Dave B.
I bought some inlays and were not sure how the wrist inlay would look. What is the best way to bend the wrist inlay to contour the wrist??
Thanks
Dave

I have used wood forms to make complex bends. Like what one would use to dome a patchbox lid. I also like using lead sheeting to support the inlay while it is struck with a acrylic mallet to help form a shape. If the metal is annealed and thin you really only need to wrap it around a sightly smaller scrap shaped form of your wrist using a hose clamp. This technique is not as effective for me as using a forming bock. The following pics show a entry pipe finial that I formed using to scrap maple chunks shaped to be slightly undersized from my fore stock. Even having shaped it close it needed extra tweaking with round needle nose pliers and beating on the anvil to fill out a few upppsses. I have no desire to make another one of these at this time.

Made just like DaveB outlined. Not as difficult as you might think.
