Horn W/2 Bands
« on: May 29, 2012, 04:44:30 PM »

It is about 10 ½” around the outside curve. The Cherry base is about 2”, hollowed out and is held by the same 4 steel pins that secure the base band. The tip is Whitetail antler and is a two, part pinned together with 4 pins. It is pinned to the horn with 4 more. The center band has 3 pins holding it in place. Color is AF and Brown shoe polish.
It is after the top horn on page 39 of Grant’s Powder Horns and Their Architecture.
Although it looks to me like that horn had more than one band.

I don't think I could make up my mind between this horn and the 5 ring one !
Both are home runs.

That's a great looking horn Tim and it looks like it would hang very nicely on my left side. It would go well with a southern poorboy I'm building.
