Thanks for the info.   I have a Santa Fe Hawken, it's a Jed Smith Santa Fe Hawken, 1 of 1000 # 287.  I got it from TOTW in 2009 for $759.  If I didn't already have the two Hawken kit's, I would get this.  When you see something like this it just add's to the confusion of the Santa Fe, Hawken rifle.  It looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, but don't think it's a duck......know what I mean, as the Santa Fe Hawken's were distributed by Western Arm's.  Although the parts may be the same the whole picture is not the same.

I haven't read all of the 55 plus comments on this subject, but has anyone ever used Pecatonica River Longrifle Supply?  I got my Hawken stock and parts from them several years ago and was well pleased with everything.  They even fitted the butt plate for an extra $25 and the stock (left-handed) was nearly finished including the lock mortise.  I did get my barrel from Ed Rayl and he fitted the hooked breech.  It made up into a really nice rifle.  I have dealt with Pecatonica on several occasions and always have gotten great customer service.  Less the barrel, I had about $650 in the kit.

Wow..........I got the breach plug and tang assembly from TOTW in yesterday.  Took all of 6 months!  Now on with the build.   As stated before, I purchased another kit from The Hawken Shop to keep me busy while waiting for parts for the TOTW Bridger kit.  When completed with both, I will post photos of them side by side to show slight differences.

I would not be surprised if some of these casting are not arriving in the US by boat thus it takes so long for the stuff to arrive. I have suspected this of  TRS stuff since I started dealing with them.

Dan,
TRS apparently tries to do business from an empty wagon.
I think they mean well but operating capital is probably in
short supply, especially when dealing with a VERY narrow market
like they cater to.

I've had TOW orders for two Hawken breeches for 1 1/8" breeched barrels for several months too, and would feel better if they were in hand.  But I'm not quite ready to use them yet anyway, so I can afford to wait.  They've always come through in the end.  As well as breeches, they seem to be short of barrels too.  It's wonderful that there's that much business that they run out of stuff.  I'll bet it's frustrating for them as well.

There is a lack of production. On breeches, when you get one from any source be sure the
flash channel up to the bolster has not been drilled incorrectly and the nipple seat threads
are damaged. I saw some of these at Friendship a few years ago.To do this sort of work,
an understanding of the ultimate use is mandatory,no exceptions,no excuses.
I used to make a flint style breech for these 13/16x45"s and then install a drum or witness
mark it for drum installation. This was when I helped Bill Large years ago.

Kermit,
I had a full stock Hawken done a number of years ago but used all custom hardware and lock, made bt Ed Myers (Deer Creek), and a wonderful walnut blank. I have a couple of beautiful Vincents available now from Larry Bryner. One is in the white and the other covered with engraved inlays. Can make a $#*! of a deal on one or both.
