Adjustable Feather spring Screw?
« on: June 12, 2012, 05:21:10 AM »
I have had occasion to have to play with the tension of the frizzen spring to get things working properly with regard to the frizzens function.  Now I see that the H.W.Mortermer and sons had a solution for this problem, consisting of a adjustable feather spring. Smartdog's post about dueling pistols yielded this web site www.flintlockcollection.com.  If you go to the sporting guns section and click on the H W Mortermer fowler the lock has the feature where the mounting screw for the frizzen is the stud through which a second screw holds the finial end of the spring. If you flip though the pictures you will see that the gun comes with two extra frizzens. Maybe thats why they need the adjustment?
