Scabbard...finally got to it!
« on: July 23, 2012, 06:58:44 AM »
A while back I posted some work that I did on a damascus bladed knife.

http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?topic=19983.msg202945#msg202945

Despite having a design crisis with the grip (which, as you can see, I haven't changed yet, Dave) I did finally get around to making a scabbard.  I haven't done any leather work for 30 years or more and have been inspired by Wick Ellerbe's posting of both knives and scabbards (and I got tired of poking myself with the knife).  So I ran out and picked up a little leather, dyes, leather finish, etc., etc., ( gee, I forgot how much "stuff" you need to do some simple leather work !)   At any rate, here is the end result.  Not up to Wick's level by a long shot, but at least I will stop stabbing myself with the pointy end.

Very nice. Very good clean work.  A simple sheath, but with class. I like the color also.

Looks great to me, as does all your work, but I dunno...sounds like your still not happy with this knife.  Maybe you should just send it to some random member so you don't have to fret over it any more.  ;D (hint-hint)

Now, how do I change my screen-name to "Random member"?

I will just echo what the others have said and add that that is a sweet looking knife.
