Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Rob,
I'm certainly not an authority but when I think of a "fighting" knife, I picture someting with a grip that you can get a good purchase on and a hand guard to protect the knuckles and stop an opposing blade. This looks to me to be a broken down butcher type knife or bread knife. IMHO

...definitely a dagger...double edged, long and straight.  If only it could speak, eh?

i would not want to use that in a fight.  without a hilt and that handle shape if you hit bone your own hand would slide forward and be sliced.

I'm told this was originally a cane knife and reshaped for fighting a long long time ago.  Very heavy blade.  Urban myth perhaps.  I would certainly want a guard, but I'd take whatever I could get if
I really needed it.
