I didn't know that stock was available in a left handed version. I might have to get one of those. What barrel weight and caliber did you use? Very nice looking rifle.

Don....I got the stock from Keck back in Feb. 2011. I wanted a lefthanded Lehigh pre-carve. At that time Dave didn't have a left hand Lehigh pattern so he made me a Bucks county left hand stock and I just shaped it as best as I could to make it look like a Lehigh. Added the subtle double radius under the wrist / trigger guard area, rounding down the top of the comb, reducing the nose of the comb, etc. The barrel is a green mountain straight .45 caliber that was taken form another rifle I had.

That piece of ash fire wood has a little curl in it. It makes nice knife handles. Might check your wood pile. There maybe some real nice pieces in there. Nice rifle too!! Mike N.

Beautiful rifle, surely the deer are trembling in their hooves. If they get a sight of that deerslayer they will likely drop dead in stunned admiration. I particularly like the finish, very well done. I am betting that is Chamber’s oil but that is only a guess. The color is close to what I envision for my upcoming build. Can you describe for me how you achieved it?

Beautiful rifle,,I'm liking that style more and more every time someone posts pictures of one.

Now you're going to take it out and get all scratched up and stuff.  Good luck on the hunt! Hope you are successful.

PPatch....it is indeed Chambers finishing oil. After staining with nut brown stain, I slathered on a heavy sealing coat at first. Then scotchbrited LIGHTLY, and then rubbed in 5 more thin coats of Chambers oil over the course of the next few days. And Kutter, I'm thinkin' about strapin' some cramp-on ice cleats to my elk hide mocs this winter to lessen the chances of a disasterous slip in the winter woods this year! ;D  E. Smith...next build will be either a new stock for a .40 straight barrel I have or a smoothbore fowling piece from Chambers....I'm really liking those Pennsylvania smooth rifles Chambers offers.

 Good job Brad! Being that you built it will give you an inner pleasure when carried than no other gun can match. Why not break it in during the early season (Oct.) ?

You did a fine job on your rifle, Brad.  Looks like you made some rapid progress.  Good luck this deer season, it is truly a great feeling to hunt with a self built gun.

Beautiful rifle! i'm glad to hear you plan to hunt with it. Like you, I'm not able to leave a gun hanging in the rack during hunting season, no matter how gorgeious it is!

msw.....I used Laural Mountain Forge's (LMF) nut brown stain....that's it. Then hand rubbed coats of Chambers finishing oil....done.
