Looks really nice.  Don't go off half cocked and forget to put a flint in it ;D
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

A really sweet rifle, Mike. I am very happy to see such a project come together so nicely. The shape of the stock is very pleasing to me.

One comment is the shape of the lock panel. When you look at the image of the lock, the panel could have dropped down a bit to echo the tail of the lock a touch more.

Congrats on a fine rifle.

More pics please!

Those A wt barrels sure do make for a nice slim look. I like the proportions on this one. The finishes look real nice to my eye too.

Is it the lighting, or is the patchbox sunk in a bit into the butt?

Thanks for the pic!

Mike,

I really like your rifle, and would also like to see some more photos.  Great job on both the stock and metal finish.  Nicely done!

Likes most: box and metal finish and color of wood.

Also like the tang as well as the pipes arrangement.

How did you achieve your metal finish?  I'm doing one quite similar but in C-weight.  I'm putting some taper in the lollipop "now" (from square stock).

Great to have friends worthy/appreciative of such.   Good looking rifle all 'round.

It is good in general. Let's make it better.

Finish the gun with the parts in place. As it is the stock looks rounded into the butt plate, box ,and toeplate. Acer had a good point. Do that.
Severly V the forestock with this style.
I see a natural talent.

appreciate all kind words, more than you know.
Tom: you are right - I didn't notice it before, but I absolutely see it now - that may have also added to a visual slimness of the topline and wrist. Thank you.
Bill - many thanks- indeed I had the metal trt done before the some of the final fit/finsh - won't do that again.
Such is the value of this forum and having eyes more practiced than mine weighing in.
Those asking for more pics - click on the "CMblog" link in original post - should lead to more pics.

Meteor, you seriously should be proud of your work. It's a dandy.

Just a few days later, this rifle got posted on the blog, the one by Jonathan Gross.  http://contemporarymakers.blogspot.com/2012/10/jonathan-gross.html

Look at the dirt, the raised grain on the wood where the rifle doesn't see much wear. Smoother where it does see wear. To reproduce that is an art I want to learn about. Few people will tell you, unless you go outside the gun world, like make friends with a furniture restorer,  or some such tradesman.

Wade - LMF barrel brown. over and over...  and days... weeks... go by in between applications ... knock down the rough stuff and apply again and wait days... weeks....
Took an aggressive neutralization regime with ammonia and baking soda to get it to stop rusting.

Hey thanks.  noted.

I just found (quite by accident) that if you leave cold bluing on long enough, that it becomes cold browning...
