From time to time I see damascus cartrigde barrels sets offerd for building sxs flintlock shotguns.
When were these barrel made? According to norwegian gunlaw, you don't need a import permit if the barrels were made before 1890.

Damascus sets used on American SxS cartridge shotguns can be as late as the 1920's.
Probably the same with English shotguns as well.

Using the manufacturer,  the serial number, proof and inspectors marks if any, many times there are factory and/or collector records around that can be used to place the original gun they came off of either one side or the other to 1890.
