It's always fun to see an example of Samuel Small's work.    Thanks

Thanks for sharing this.  Small worked about 10 miles from where I live.  It's always nice to see examples of his work.

I was glad to see this information on S. Small.  I bought a half-stock rifle a few years ago but could never find any information on Small, so I thank you.  I am curious, the one shown in this discussion has a broken wrist...so does mine...is that typical problem?  Joanne

Broken wrists are very common.  UPS is still breaking them today ;D
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Joanne, go to the Ohio Longrifle site and click on "publications". About half way down the list there is a good article on the Small family. Jack    http://www.aolrc.org/

Thanks for the additional information on S. Small.  There were some beautiful guns shown in the Ohio Longrifle link.  Works of Art.  Now, does anyone have any information on S. W. Hill, Johnstown NY...I am also looking for information on Hill's dates?  He is another fairly obscure maker.  Formats like American Long Rifle are Godsends.   Regards, Joanne
