Fusil by Terry Briggs
« on: December 04, 2012, 11:45:47 PM »
It has been a very long time since Terry has built a new gun.  I have five guns in my collection that he has worked on, none built for me.  This is my the first new custom gun.  :)

.62 Cherry stocked Fusil....

Nice....and interesting sidelight:  the fancy sideplate is modeled after ONE example known archeologically--and it as from a left-hand gun!...  despite this, the plate is made today in both brass and steel and appears on many 'repro' fusils de chasse guns, mostly right-handed!  I used to have one like it, but recently traded it for a fusil fin de traite...

It is a 20 gauge. Briggs is finishing up another 20 gauge...we test shot it yesterday.  It is a painted red Type G and copies the Uchei and TR guns. His engaving work on this gun mirrors the originals, perfectly.
