We're Back...

The usual suspects plus a new one.  All flint, three smoothbores and five rifles.

Yes, I used a flash with the timer.  The first pic didn't work cause I was too slow running back to the trail through the knee deep snow.  I used a telephoto to fill the screen and improve detail, and the flash illuminated the muzzles and the ends of one of the ramrods.  Second from the right...Hatchet jack cannot stop himself from polishing his brass.  It was a great day on the trail- temp just below freezing with good light, no wind and occasional sunshine.

Osprey!
I must admit.....that does look like our ( Canada ) only border patrol team.
Actually in most cases they are like Barney Fife, on the Andy Griffith show, a six shooter with only one bullet.
Great photo, and good times I'm sure.
Thank you for the photo.

If that picture was from Jackson County Kentucky,I'd say the
"Men of Ill Repute"had returned. We used to shoot down there with
Sharps and Rolling Blocks and others and the "rule"was that you had
to be a "Man of Ill Repute" or if female,a "Soiled Dove or Fallen Angel"
to be allowed on the range. We had a fine time and always went to
Opal's restaurant in McKee. If you have an artery that isn't stopped up,
that's the place to go and in reality,it's good old American cooking with
no regard for those who worry about every bite they eat.

We do the same Bob.  We usually finish up the trail by 2 pm and then head back to town.  On the way there's a restaurant called the "Bon Voyage" and the staff there has been serving us so frequently and for so long, they know us by name and know what we'll order.

Nice photo Taylor. Roger that isn't snow, it's British Columbia grass.

Roger, we don't have much in the way of black flies here except for about a week in May.  Mosquitos is another story.  They come to life even before the snow is gone around easter or beginning of may, and don't die off until first of August.  That's why we spend the winter out on our trail.  The temperature right now is unusually warm so we're making the most of it.  Later this month and Feb. will be bitter.

I wish others would post pictures of their shooting groups.  I always enjoy seeing 'em.

Outstanding, gentlemen, just outstanding. You BC guys have WAY too much fun.

So having a place to shoot where the wind is not an 800 pound gorilla waiting to pounce and THEN having a group of motivated shooters? Don't get any better than that.

Folks down south do not appreciate the Arctic Mosquito. As soon as there is liquid water, they are on the move.

Dan, just drive on over,we shoot most Sundays. You'd have to put up with a few smoothbore crackpots,lmao!...but the rest of the boys shoot them single projectile type weapons. Our trail is one of the toughest!

Wimps.  I work all summer for our State Mosquito Control division, you guys have it bad enough to need one of those?  Try solicitans over 200 per minute when the salt marshes breed, you can't breathe without getting a snootful of them.  Ugh.  Thanks for the reminder that summer's coming, bleeccch.   >:(

That is one cool photo!  Mosquitoes of the Deep South are different, of course.  Their bite is no worse but when they dig in those 1" hooked claws in your skin it HURTS!  They'll also rip through your shirt to get at your flesh. ;D
