Belt or Shoulder?

So, in your quest for steady hold on the w walks or line shoots where you load outta the bag.  Which do you prefer and why??  The shoulder bag or a belt bag, I doubt if this question has arisen here?   In my case being fairly skinny of frame I do not like a shoulder strap bearing down across my skinny shoulder blade and I have to pull up my drawers in a timely fashion while wearing a belt bag with all that lead in it.   (In the bag not in me!)  What say you

I just went out and shot today using both.

I have a belly box with a block that holds 12 paper cartridges. On the same belt I have a leather holster for a 10 shot loading block. The left side of the belly box has a loop to hold my short starter. Over my shoulder on my right hip I have a pouch containing my priming horn, a pocket full of maintenance and cleaning stuff, and a tin of cartridges. Also another block.

I can do most of my loading work without digging into the bag. I need to modify my priming horn so I can sling it. Then I'll only dig into my bag every 10 shots. That gets me through a biathlon run.

Bag and horn are  each slung from  shoulder principally because  I do not want to reach over the rifle  to get to the bag. I have found that recently I do carry  a much  smaller bag. I used to think that I needed everything I owned.

Shoulder.   Easier to move as needed. But if I used a belt bag it would b on a seperate belt.

A while ago I started putting my belt over the straps to my bag... I found that this allowed me to run without having all my gear bounce all over the place.  Also got rid of all the dangly bits from the pouch straps... now its all inside the bag attached to holes in the rim.  I don't care if it takes me a bit longer to load.

Over the shoulder just "feels" right to me.  I can't run so no problem, there.

I use both at the same time, Roger.  I carry a pouch on my right side, strap over left shoulder.  I have both left and right carry horns.  But I like to have a pouch on my knife belt for my primer so it's a little handier.  And I always seem to end up with the tally punch to keep score, so it goes in there too.  I've though of trying a little larger belt pouch rather than carry the shoulder bag, but haven't got to it yet.

Shoulder carry for me.  I've tried a belt pouch several times, never got used to carrying shooting supplies etc in them.

My answer would be both, depending.
I typically use a shoulder bag for rifle events and a belt bag for pistol events.
My horn is attached to the bag straps as a rule, the short starter goes into a loop on the bag and the powder measure slides into a pouch on the strap.  The inline musket capper also goes into a pocket next to the measure.
For pistol events, I have the bag set up with an antler handled  brass loading rod carried in a loop on the side of the pouch, and the powder measure is carried in an inside loop, along with the tubular flask.  I use a Tedd Cash universal capper carried on my belt.
A place for everything, everything in its place, and nothing dangling around.

AMEN! Only thing's necessary for the gun are in the shooting bag,with 1 exception for me, a fire starting kit, the ONLY OCD moment I have! I cone my muzzles so I dont even have a short starter. It's amazing just how much you DONT need!

A wider strap would help on skinney shoulders. You couls even put an extra piece or two of soft leather under the strap where it hit's your shoulder.
