Wayne Robidoux Hawken Drawings
« on: January 24, 2013, 02:07:58 AM »
Hello all,
In another question thread about Hawken rifles I was advised to get Wayne Robidoux's drawings as they are the best. I can't seem to get ahold of him. He apparently runs some type of fabrication business, but he has not responded to my email.
Perhaps a long shot...but does anyone have a set they would part with? Or, are these able to be copied? Are they copyrighted? Could I borrow a set from someone I I give my right hand as a retainer? Perhaps someone would trade a set for my book ( hardcover ) on Queen Anne Period Furniture ( google it )?
Or, can someone give me some good advice that might lead to success?
Cold up here in VT. Thirteen below this morning, but not like Minnesota or Michigan. Squeaky snow and ice cystals forming from your breath. Tonight again...
May all of you be warm and safe. I really feel for the folks in New York and New Jersey without heat.
Thanks muchly,
Norm Vandal

Norm, if nothing else, I'll be driving past his shop on Friday--if it will help, I can stop by and ask if they are still available.

I have a set of drawings but do not wish to part with as using them on a current Hawken build.

Habu, if you stop to see Mr. Robideaux, ask him which Nebraska Museum this Sam Hawken rifle can be located at? Or give me a way to contact him if possible. I would like to maybe see it some day.

Many Thanks.

OK, I stopped by today.  They were a bit busy, and as it turned out the person I needed to contact had walked out when I walked in.  Anyhow, Kurt (Wayne's son) is apparently the guy you'll need to talk with.  They suggested calling him during business hours (M-F 830AM-5PM Central) at (402)432-1944.  I was told the plans should still be available, once you reach him.

Ray, as I recall, the rifle Mr. Robidoux drew was in the Nebraska State Historical Society collection; if it is currently on display it would probably be in the museum at 15th and P Streets in Lincoln.  Probably.  I can try to locate it if you like.

Habu (Jim),

Thanks much!

I do have their phone number and will call them to see? I did a website search last month and it did not have any conclusive information. There are several Nebraska museums listed in the search so thought maybe it was elsewheres.
