Shot bag
« on: February 04, 2013, 11:38:28 PM »
This is a shot bag that was a joint effort between myself and Eric Fleisher.I made the spout and Eric did the leatherwork. The spout which features a clothes pin style stopper is antler and hickory and the bag which Eric has named the "rotten banana peel" model is based on an original.

Looks neat, nice job on the turnings. I had a bag very similar years ago that belonged to my G-Grandfather except the spout was carved wood.

I like your Ol' banana bag...Kudos to you and Eric.  The ones I saw at lewisburg were top notch work folks.  These pictures do not do them justice.

Nicely done...love to see a pic with the stopper out of the bag. Is the spout bone?

Here you go Giz.
A large percentage of originals have this type of clothespin stopper. It keeps the stopper from being driven out from the inside from the balls/shot.Mine is turned in antler.A good number of originals were turned in bone but I have yet tto find a good source for appropriate bone to make mine.
