Another "Turkey" knife
« on: February 09, 2013, 11:57:19 PM »
This is another band saw blade with a turkey wing bone for a handle. This is about as big a knife as I would want to build from this material as it is getting rather flexible for my taste. The handle has a poured pewter bolster and butt, giving a little more weight in your hand. This would be a good bag knife.

Dandy little knife Steve. It's not a through tang is it? Just curious on how you secured the tang to the handle on this one...

Yes David the tang goes almost all the way through the bone handle. It has epoxy poured into the bone from the butt end strengthening the turkey bone and securing the blade. Maybe not PC but very functional. I used the pewter to secure the blade into a bone handle years ago on a forged blade I made. It was PC but so heavy that it didn't have a good feel. I'll never do that again.

A fine looking little knife Mr. Skillman.
