Price of Goex 3f right now?
« on: January 04, 2009, 05:26:07 AM »
Anyone know the prices from the vendors without delivery?
I am particulary thinking of Gordon Wilson Jenks,as they were the cheapest the last time I ordered 2 cases...
 Thank you, :)
 Jeff

I'm going to have to do some price checking.  It's been a while since my last purchase.

$13 a pound at www.powderinc.com in 25# lot plus hazmat.  You can mix, and match the order.

Hi, Guys-

I'm mostly a lurker around here, but I just ordered powder the other day, from Graf & Sons, who have a minimum order of only *four* pounds. Goex is a bargain, at $13.59 a pound from them. Hazmat is 22.50, handling and insurance $4.50 and shipping is FREE. I ordered it on the first, and FedEx says it will be here on the 11th. You can find their Web site at:

"Graf and Sons" <service@grafs.com>

Good shooting,

Jeff, i bought my powder from Mr Jenks for the past 15 years he always advertised in the PA. federation of blackpowder shooters club shoot books for many years... unfortunately he had a fatal heart attack at the end of 2008. and is "out of business".. his ad is still running in muzzleblast but will soon be removed!!!

I just purchased 25# of a mix of  2F and 3F from Jack's Powder Keg (www.jackspowderkeg.com) for $12.60 per pound.  That includes delivery and the hazmat fee.

Prices including delivery (except one where noted) and hazmat fees based on web site ads as of 19 Feb 2009:
Sorted by supplier:

Sorted by brand of powder:

N/A means they don't sell in those quantities.

To save your eyes, the least expensive per pound price is the 25 lb lot of house brand from Jack's Powder Keg at $10.20; runner up is a 25 lb lot of KIK from Powder, Inc. at $10.75. Including shipping and hazmat fees.

Least expensive Goex is 25 lb lot from Jack's Powder Keg at $12.60; runner up is 25 lb lot from Powder Inc. at #13.10. Again, including shipping and hazmat fees.

Goex from Graf's in a four pound lot is $19.61 per pound including hazmat and handling fee; hardly a bargain.

Can anyone give a first hand report of the quality of Jacks powder with live rounds, verses the other name brands?

I would give Jack a call on his toll free number, 1-888-245-9631. Ask him about his house brand powder. If I remember correctly he said it was more for reenactors, and that it was made by Goex but not screened as fine.

I just bought powder from him and I can tell you the guy is sterling.
