i am recreating a original rifle and the barrel is definetely an odd ball size and caliber.who would be the best to contact that wouldnt mind doing odd ball jobs????

Depends on what you mean as "oddball".  John Getz will make custom barrels but it may take a while.  I'm sure he, or any of the other barrelmakers will draw a limit on what they perceive as safe to shoot.

What are you doing that would require an "oddball" barrel?

famous eagle,i would like to have a barrel in 61cal,47.5in.long ,full octagon smooth bore.a hermann rupp rifle.

I know that Ed Rayl offers a .607 caliber as available.  Try giving him a call.

Let me know what you find out.  I'd like to maybe do that as well.

I think the problem is going to be the diameter of the barrel.  That original is an inch at the breech or less.  Would make a beautiful slim gun.  But I doubt most of today's barrel makers would ever make one that thin.

The closest I know of right now, is the custom 46" B weight .50 that Rice started for EK.  They are one inch at the breach and can be either smooth or rifled.
If Rayl doesn't work out, I'm planning on going with this one.

dane,that rice barrel seems like it would be a nice alternative.is this also for a rupp rifle your building......
