2013 West Coast Horn Fair
« on: April 07, 2013, 09:12:35 PM »
I want to encourage all who are interested in horning to attend this years get together on April 26, 27, and 28 at Capitol City Rifle and Pistol club near Littlerock Washington. You can get information on it with this link http://www.westcoasthornfair.com/.
John and I talked this week and I want to invite all who would only be able to attend on Saturday. You can show up and enjoy the show for $15 plus $5 per meal you choose to eat there.
Learn to scrim from Steve Vance on Friday, Learn how to choose your horns in a class by our own Bigsmoke, learn how to layout your horn like a pro with Oregonhorner, then watch as three different styles of horns are made. There will be demonstrations on turning bands, tips, butts, and shaping the butts with oil and dry heat. I'm sure you will get many tips on coloring your horns as well as finishes that the pros use.
I can't think of a better mentor on choosing horns than Bigsmoke. Most of us get our horns from him and I have been assured he'll have lots of them to choose from there.
You'll want to share dinner on Saturday night made by our own Beaverman and his lovely wife, and attend the drawings and auction of the prizes that have been so graciously donated by so many of the top horners.
All in all I think this is going to be the best show yet on horn making on the West Coast. I want to invite and encourage anyone within a 4 or 5 hour drive to attend. I guarantee you won't be sorry.

well, all I can say is, I wish I lived a lot closer. I WOULD be there. Looks like a great time, I hope it turns out to be a fantastic event.

I may be there. The wife has dog sled (carts this time of year) races that weekend, but she said I can go if I want.
There'll be lots of people to help handle the team without me.  :D

Heading out for the event in the morning.  Well, it's a long drive, for crying out loud. :P
I think this is going to be the best one yet.  If you are within 300 miles of it, I think it would be worth while to take the drive.
If you just cannot make it, you can still participate by getting into the raffle drawings.  We have some fantastic prizes up for grabs.  A Scott Sibley horn, a Steve Vance Horn, a Ron Hess horn, etc. I have never seen a selection of prizes like this. www.westcoasthornfair.com  Will be accepting on line ticket purchases until Friday.

The show came off this last weekend and it was good. Well attended and many new faces. All the usual suspects there as well. I want to thank all the people who donated prizes for the raffle and auction. We wouldn't have had half the show without all your support.
