basket weave horn
« on: May 04, 2013, 04:04:42 AM »
I havn't posted anything for awhile on here, so I thought it was about time. This horn idea arose from a night of to many cold beverages with a fellow horner. I found out right away that the toughest part of building this one was finding a horn that would ( with a little applied heat) fit over another horn. Having a large bin of "that didn't work" horn pieces made it a lot easier.
It is of course based on a southern banded horn design
 So here it is.
13 1/2 in around the curve
2 3/8 in at the base with a hollowed out cherry base plug and antler applied button for the strap
 Antler applied tip

hope you like it. any and all comments or critique are welcome.

I rather like that. It certainly shouldn't slip in your hand.

Now I'm curious how it would look with a light colored basket weave over a dark horn.........

Who said beer is nonproductive?  Nice job. Hope we get to see finished product
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Ron, congrats, you made the CLA blog with this excellent made horn.  Your workmanship is superb and very easy on the eyes.  Great job, keep them coming.
