SUPER FIGURED GUN STOCKS

 I LOVED ALL THE PICTURES OF THE SQUIRREL AND  BIG BORE RIFLES A LOT HAS OUTSTANDING WOOD  . I REALY LIKE HIGHLY FIGURED WOOD.DONT CARE IF ITS WALNUT - CURLY ASH -TIGER STRIPE-  BIRDS EYE  -SPALED MAPLE  OR ANYTHING ELSE .   .IF YOU HAVE A REAL SPECIAL  PIECE OF WOOD ON YOUR GUN PLEASE POST A PICTURE FOR US.

I like this one, My 14 bore rifle -with decent grain structure, running up the wrist, then down the fore end.



The other side.



Hope Taylor doesn't mind. I really like this tiger striped maple A. Verner that Taylor built last year- or was it 2 years ago?





A nice Piece of English in this SXS 12 bore.



My old .45 has a nice tiger stripped stock.





Taylor's Jaeger is quite special.



A 20 bore flint, in maple.

That 14 bore is SO elegant and simple.It stands out,makes its
own statement WITHOUT engraving or carving or any thing else.

Here's a couple of nicely figures pieces.  One is the absolute worst I've ever carved, and one the absolute nicest.

Can you guess which???

It's actually a piece of black walnut from a stump crotch where two trees came from the same base.

Below is a Gillespie that I built back in 2005, unfortunately a Gillespie cousin of mine wanted it more than me ;D A guy that sawed up some logs for me gave me that piece of walnut! It was only long enough for a 36" barrel.

Daryl, the checkering on those two shur look fine. Can you tell us how many lines per inch they were done at? Great looking guns by the way.
