What a find, a grand VA gun in untouched condition and as nice as anyone could hope for! Do we know who made it? It certainly had to come from the bench for one of the finest bulders down there. The shop of Lauck comes to mind. This rifle may have started its career as a flintock given that it has a two bolt lock plate and it appears as though the barrel may have had an inch or two taken away. Everything about this rifle is pleasing, but the wood stands out for its quality. The inlays are tasteful, the restrained use of carving, taken together with the architecture, makes this an outstanding rifle very well qualified for the Library.
