New horn and pouch set
« on: August 03, 2013, 03:52:00 PM »
Here is a link to a new horn and pouch set I just finished.  It is intended to represent a mid 20th century rig.  The flour sack is from the 1930s I believe.  Those who collect antique flower sacks might want to look away.

Also, I do want to say that this set was inspired by me studying the theme rigs of contemporary maker T.C. Albert.  So I want show credit where credit it due.

It is interesting. It looks like something a poor person hauling around an ancient muzzleloader would stuff full of whatever rabbits or small game they could shoot during the depression.

Nice work Cory...good inception and execution. Seeing an old flour sack at a flea market and having the artistic vision to see what it can become rather than just what it is ....then following through and constructing what you've imagined in your minds eye and actually creating it...everything from centering the graphics and keeping it all in good perspective scale to matching the horn and strap takes alot of planning and thought...its all been done very well on your "huntin' poke"....it really turned out nice.

I think its neat to breathe new life into an old sack like that...actually using, assembling, and repurposing materials to tell a visual story that evokes a few feelings of what life might have been like in the old days is pretty cool.
