Colerain Barrel
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:33:39 AM »
Have a .45 Colerain round bottom rifling. Anyone shooting this barrel? What size round ball, patch combination? Just finishing up build and wondering. I looked in my stash and I have a .440 and .445 mold. I haven't shot .45 for a while.

Cast up a few of each and see what she likes. All the 45's I have shot did pretty good with a .440 and tickin patch. This was for huntin accuracy not match shootin.

I've taken inventory and found some .445's. I'll run some .440's . I have an old CVA that has to have .451's if you expect to cut squirrel heads off with it.

I have a Colerain .45 in the Mongrol build I've been working on since February of this year. I'm gonna get a box of the .440s and also have some .451s from a pistol I use to own too. It should be sighted in by October and have a hog or buck to her credit by years end.
She ain't Purdy but she shoots real good !
