New Grobet rasps at Lee Valley

Noticed two new cabinetmakers rasps being offered by Lee Valley. A recent post mentioned that the Nicholson product had been changed for the worse so thought some of us may want to try these. Made by Grobet and come in medium and fine cut. Sorry no link, I'm not that much of a tech guy.

I have purchased Ariou rasps at $100 ea, and never looked back. I've purchased a $45 new Nicholson and cussed myself every time I use it.

Grobet tools will outlast every file in your toolbox, if used and stored properly. They are top notch.

I've got one similar to the old Nocholson, cuts faster, and leaves a smoother finish.

honestly, i have had it in mind to get a set of Ariou rasps soon. But now I think I will order yours instead. Always prefer to support a company that takes an interest in us.

As a matter of fact, I am currently developping a range of floats. So far I have done two models, the two most current ones : the straight one and the cranked one (both in pull and push strokes version).

Very nice sir.  Since you asked for suggestions I would say you might check into the needs of people making traditional wooden planes. I became interested in floats when restoring a classic Norris infill plane.

I've tried Pferd wood rasps and metal files. They were a big disapointment. I'll never buy them again.
