Salt or Priming Horn
« on: September 24, 2013, 05:21:53 AM »
Had another small horn tip that I almost made a powder funnel out of but decided to make a salt horn (or priming horn) with it instead.  Turned ebony base plug held in with thorns and with a threaded, removable cascabel.  Tip plug is turned Lignum Vitae with a struck brass makers mark pinned to one side facet.  Nautical theme, the engraving is a little more sophisticated and detailed than the geometric design used on the pocket horn I posted last week.  Fun project for two evenings - one to make the horn, one to engrave it.
