I'm new to all things black powder, but learning a ton here.  Is there anyone close by that might want to show a new-be a few things about building and shooting?

THanks so much for any help

I think that you will find that folks on this forum can teach you as well as someone being there in Woodland Park.  I lived in Colorado Springs for 25 years before I moved to wine country.  Most of my shooting was up in your neck of the woods.  Fond memories.

You're at a good place for learning.  But yes, live and local contact can accelerate access to and the processing of lots of information.

Have you checked for local clubs or events out there?

Your NMLRA field rep is in Dumont, Estill Ator.  I don't see a club listing in this Muzzle Blasts.

Jack Brooks lives and works in Englewood, CO. Look him up. He is a master builder and is a friendly fellow to boot. There are others as well, but he is probably the most accessible.

Get in touch with the Colorado Springs Muzzle Loaders.  You can start here  http://csmlinc.org/

They are one of the most active clubs in the state with many knowledgeable members who are willing to help out a new shooter.

blaksmth,

It's been about 5 years for me ... Since I've been to The Mountain Man.

They still appeared to have a reasonable amount of goodies.

I just happened to have an old '70's issue catalog with me and asked if they would honor the prices.   ;)

We both wished some of the stuff was still available.

Cheers,
