Gus, The bag you refer to is more in the style of earlier hinged bags that date back even at least as far as the medieval period. The Scottish sporran seems also adapted from them but held on in use for a longer period. These hinged purses. seem to have been primarily used by sportsmen for hunting in between the medieval period and the latter times when they seem to become exclusive to women's bags.

Thanks for the reply and info.
I’ve done a small amount of research on medieval belt pouches/purses, but mainly to get “inspiration” on something used in earlier times that MIGHT be used in our period. Well, that’s not a good way to say it, I guess, because I was never trying to justify a 14th century pouch in the 18th century. Maybe a better way of saying it is study the older items to see if there is something that was done earlier and evolution done in our period.
Anyway, I enjoyed looking at the items and they are indeed first rate !!
