Georgian Stlye Pistol

This is a pistol I finished up a little while ago.It's a Georgian style  English pistol made from one of Chris Altlands (York County Firelocks)part sets.It was a fun little project now resides with a happy customer down in Texas.

I like it alot too Mitch, can you tell us about the parts used for the build? Lock, barrel and was it a precarved stock, etc.

Yes it was a precarve.The parts and barrel are by Chris Altland http://firelockpistols.com/ .The lock is a Chambers.I've only done a couple of precarves(both by Chris)and they seem to work out well.Plenty of extra wood.

Nice work Mitch - I like the detail of the brass face on the ramrod.  Did you use a size larger breech plug in order to get the raised sight grooves, or did you peen them up?

I have to agree with everyone else.  Nice pistol.  Inletting of the spurred butt cap looks nice and tidy.  Pistils are fun projects.  Some cuss um, some love um.  Even though they are sometimes hard to hold and take a requisite amount of work as compared to a rifle, I tend to enjoy them.  Looking forward to visiting with you at Lewisburg.

It was a little bit of both.The plug was slightly higher but not quite enough so I fullered them up a little higher.

I missed this earlier, looks great, Mitch!  I have a parts set for this pistol that I bought from Chris at Dixon's.  I'll probably be getting in touch when I ever get around to building it.  Really nice looking piece, well done!

That’s a lovely pistol and I have a real fondness for Georgian Pistols.  The drop of the grip looks like that one would be very comfortable to hold and sight.
