Cain's outdoors doesn't have an "out of stock" on the number 6 model if that would work for you (assuming here you have tried Davis directly).

I just used an L&R 1710 (TOTW # - advertised as a new version of the T7) in place of a Davis 004 and am pretty pleased with them - same price and a touch fancier. Might be an option if you can't wait.

I just bought a kit from TOW.   Are they out of stock now?    I have an extra Davis #4 that I am not going to need anytime in the foreseeable future.   You can have it as long as you replace it when stock becomes available again.

What kind of problems is Davis having? No 6 is my favorite.

Usually, production shops have set backs due to a foundry that's unable
to supply components to an assembler. Also sometimes the pieces from
the foundry are substandard. The original owners of L&R had that problem
years ago and I had a lesser degree of it with carbon deficient frizzens in
the late 70's or early 80's.I was able to offset that problem by making
bearings from bronze for automatic and manual transmissions and did
that until bearing grade bronze got too expensive for short run work.
I still sometimes turn out a set of shackle bolts/nuts and bushings for a Packard.KB Lincoln or a Duesenberg
car.Breaks the monotony.

Have you gone straight to Davis? I suspect if anyone would have them in stock he will. Here is the link http://www.redaviscompany.com/triggers.html
If you get in a pinch I can let you have a Davis kit.

I just received a GA #0008 Davis trigger from TOW this week. They previously listed it as backorder-expect 90 days, but to my pleasant surprise it was in the shipment this week. (I would like to try one of their new single-sets)

I looked at and played with a Davis single set trigger at Friendship
and it worked really well.Only time will tell about any device like
this but the first impression to me was a good one and neither gadgets
or people get a second chance to do that.

I've used quite a number of the Davis sets, and like them very much.

You must have got the only one that came in.
I was just at Tracks shop today, kinda busy with half dozen folks in there. Waiting my turn I struck up conversation with a Gent that was buying a Vincent kit with Greg picking parts and they had no DS-4 I asked how about a 6? Nope.
The guy was another local so he'll wait for a DS-4 as he has plenty to do with the kit stock, but I wanted to check out the DS-1, Nope.(!)
The only Davis Double they have in stock is the Early, I asked Greg what's going on with Davis and he said they have no idea, and his "guess" was just as Mr. Roller mentioned that perhaps there's some glitch in the supply chain.

So that's the word from Track as of Black Friday, they have no clue,,

Just lucky I guess. I was prepared to wait, but like very much to have complete parts sets when starting a rifle. I am thinking of trying their new single-set.

I THINK the Gun&Mould Shop in Ohio does most assembly of locks for R.E.Davis Co.
and they might do the triggers as well.I have a friend that works there and if I can
contact him,I'll post here.I am behind on work in the shop but I am not pulling an eight
hour day anymore and nothing after 6PM unless it's an emergency.
The fact that ANYTHING at all is available today for any muzzleloader is one of the
minor miracles of the times we live in.

It fixes itself. If you've been around a
while. No locks, no barrels, no wood. It actually gets better.

I talked to Tim, who owns R. E. Davis, he sent me this and asked me to post it for him:

"It is true that we are behind on many of our triggers, but we are beginning to gain ground quickly.  I got out over 100 sets of #6's, and still have some in MY INVENTORY for sale.  We are working on the most popular #4's, and should have a huge batch of over 200 by Christmas (HO-HO-HO)."

Yep. I planted some sugar maples this fall. I'll have my own wood in time.
