Chambers early ketland lock

When inletting this lock is it flush or stand proud?

Haven't used that lock yet on a project, but I've seen it inlet flush.  I've also seen folks add a slight bevel to the lockplate and inlet to the bevel - both look great.

I was told by either, or maybe both,  Jim Chambers and Gary Brumfield that the lock should have a slight bevel and be inlet to the bevel.   That is the way I have inlet it.

I have been puting a bevel on the O.D. and inleting it to the bevel. Nice looking lock when inlet.

I have done this too but some of the originals did not have a bevel. Check RCA #124, I have seen at least one other without a bevel.

#124 in rifles of Colonial America is a great early gun for this lock.
