TOW Bucks County Rifle Kit Update #17
« on: December 19, 2013, 01:04:39 AM »
Sorry for the delay. I've been completely tied up writing magazine articles for the last couple of months. But I finally carved out some time to work on the rifle.

In this update I install the trigger guard.

As we go into a holiday period I thought it might be useful to offer this link which Mike posted on another forum. If I've got it right, you would end up on a page showing all the instalments in numerical order - saves searching!

I've noticed that his efforts attract little response on this forum, for whatever reason. Personally I find it enormously encouraging to be able to see a non specialist putting a kit together. I have gained a better grasp of what might be involved, picked up one or two tips on ways of doing things and spotted one or two areas where I might hope to do a better job. Good stuff for a beginner IMO - and I'm fully qualified to say that  ;D

What browser, and version, are you using and can you play ANY video on any webpage? Sound like a browser and or flash player problem.

Don't worry about it though I probably am doing something wrong.

Thanks Dave. You are right. My build videos get very few comments. I was going to stop posting them due to lack of interest, but, when I go awhile with out an update, I start getting emails asking me what the holdup is. So I reckon people watch them, even if they don't comment, and I'm OK with that.

I'm glad you are enjoying them.

Firelock, I've watched all of the series, and I commend you for your persistence and common sense approach to this build.  It's been so long since I watched the first couple episodes, I can't remember how much experience you've had.  But your rifle is coming along well, and it is not a race, so enjoy the process, and for goodness sake, keep posting those shows.

Please don't stop posting your progress....there is probably plenty of people like myself who mostly read all the threads and just don't comment for what ever reason. I have enjoyed this video series
from the beginning and it makes my day when I see you have posted a new installment. I can't wait to see whats to come yet and of course the finished rifle.

I don't remember if I've commented or not! But, I like watching them too, so keep 'em coming, if it's not too much trouble. (I have no idea how hard it is to post a video. Judging from some of the stuff I've seen online, it can't be too hard! ;D )

I have posted a comment on one of your early videos.  I have also enjoyed them.  I have no complaints about the speed of your work since my first build (also a TOW precarve) is now approaching its second birthday.  I work in the automotive industry, and understand completely how a daily job can get in the way of a build.  Thanks for posting your videos and keep up the great work.

I have been following all your M/L build videos without comment, I suspect there are thousands of lurkers like myself, keep them coming.

I have referred newbies who want to build a "kit" to your videos to show them there is much more involved with a parts kit than an assembly kit like a TC. They see the word "kit and think putting one together will be an easy task. Your videos have shown them this is not the case.

One young man had been recommended a Chambers kit, I directed him to your videos. After discussing the necessary tools and working space with him I told him a gun in the white would be something l he would be the most comfortable with. Last I heard he was headed to Tip Curtis to check out his options.
