Runar,
You are going to put the BOOM in the Dragoon.
There needs to be some kind of Craftsman award for the work you do over yonder.
Great work as you have an audience at attention here awaiting the next segment of your broadcast!

Runastav, I very much enjoy watching your project evolve.  I too like using carriage bolts for #10 screw blanks.  They have a nice large head and you can cut the slot size that suits you.  Before I got a decent lathe, I used to file them out by hand, and them 'turn' them in an electric drill held in the vise.
Your pistol is coming along nicely.

Get some 12L14 in different sizes.I use 5/32"for internal lock screws,3/8"
for hammer screws and some times 7/16".This stuff machines with no effort
and takes good threads. I also sometimes use 1/2" to make 2/2x16 lead crews
for the Atlas 618 lathe I made into a screw making machine.
Stove bolts and the like are usually at the low end of the scale in new made ones
and there is no need of them once the real screw stock is tried.
The little 1x72 I make from drill rod and it's for the link to the mainspring.

Hi Gents, and thank you Dave :)
The pistol is now ready for proof testing. It is 48 cm long, and weight 1720 kilogram, the earlyer build Derringer is small hehe ;D Water  base stain and Danish oil finish, it is not perfekt but good enough for me.

The only thing left to make it perfect is to polish the lock. All told, that is an awesome looking service pistol.
