Dave,

I believe you're referring to Virtually Indestructible Ramrods; http://www.periodramrod.com/

I've never used one -- can't help there.

I have one and I'm not very impressed, especially with the customer service.  You're better off with just a metal range rod if target shooting.

I have two of these that I use for range rods. Notice that they will make custom lengths. They also sell muzzle/bore protectors, IIRC.

Kermit,
How well do you like them! I am considering one for a friend that has a 45 cal full length stock LR and a 5/16" ram rod hole and a stronger rod would be a good thing because of the small size to use inserted in the thimbles and forstock!
Bull you say not very impressed are they not strong enough or what?

Thanks!

Dave, they are strong and are probably nearly indestructible but I had to return the first one as it was bent, poorly made and not to my specifications then got a ration of s@#t from the company for asking them to take it back and make me what I ordered in the first place.  Then I had to use JB weld on the tip to keep it in place on the replacement rod.  Plus I've learned that for extended shooting sessions at the range, it's much easier to load and clean using a T handled range rod that's 6 inches longer than the barrel of my rifle as opposed to some barely three inches longer.  In fact I load up before heading off into the field and then carry only enough in my bag for another 3-4 shots.

Here's a source for brass ramrods, if you're interested:

"For those looking for an excellent source of custom Brass Ramrods at great prices, look up "ramblinman211" on ebay and check out what he offers. In addition to stock rod sizes, he can also make custom-length rods, as he did for my T/C Hawken with the 32" round ball barrel. He makes many other custom-turned brass items as well."  ...Old No. 7, Traditional ML Forum
