chest lock
« on: January 25, 2014, 05:39:10 PM »
My first attempt at lock making. Somewhat crude as I was anxious to get it together and see if it worked. Next one will be neater. Trickiest part is forge welding bits on keys. I think next time I will make them with a little pin and drill a hole then weld./i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff510/DavidPflint/IMG_2014_zpsa1791f67.jpg[/IMG]

I admire anyone who can make a forged lock like this.  Will be interested to see your next lock.

I am impressed.   I would have like to see you forge weld the outer case.

No Shreckmeister, where might it be seen?

Some one sent me a PM and I was trying to send you a link and lost your email address. If you would PM me back I'll try again to answer. I can strike fire with flint and steel and build a fire in the forge and forge weld easier than doing this computer stuff.

I tried making keys for the locks in my old doors in my farm house  I found upsetting the end first or folding the ends over to put the extra matereal on the ends . trying to forge weld that little piece to make the key beyond my talent
