The ALR is the best thing that ever happened to my gunbuilding.

I built my 1st gun in 1986 and I've not improved much. I'm just a whole lot better at fixing my mistakes.

To quote my old pal Frank,
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew, when I bit off more than I could chew, and through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out,
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way!

The great thing about the ALR is that we are willing to share both the good and the bad, and everyone is willing to help fix our Aww Shucks. Oh yeah, and laugh at them as well. My morning starts here!

I did the exact same thing buidling a mountain rifle. I was early enough in the shaping that I was able to rasp most out. The rest was hidden under the swivel patchbox lid.

If the patch is a tight fit, plain old Gorilla glue might work better. It bubbles when it sets, and the thin line of glue would take stain in the open bubbles after it is sanded. You might even get away with mixing some sawdust in the glue before using it.
