How did you get that squirrel to sit up there like that?  Just kidding.  It is a great picture.  And good on you for going afield with your son.  I know some of my best memories are of days spent in the woods with my son.

Squirrels around our house develop that posture while cleaning out my wife's bird feeder Just wish the feeder was in the back yard where a head shot wouldn't go into my neighbor's bedroom window!

 Yep, good pic. My aunt and uncle had a bunch of grey (white?) an black fox squirrels in the woods behind their house. I never got one though they were too smart for a 14 year old with a H&R .410. I shot a lot of grey squirrels though.

Left overs, squirrel, rabbit, pheasant, grouse - chopped fine and mixed together with gelatin to make a head-cheese-type loaf for my lunch-time sandwiches - elementary school delightful memory for me. Dad was GREAT at that sort of thing - other things too - HA!

Surprisingly enough, I was the only one there with game meat in my sandwiches - imagine!

Danny, I have been looking at that photo you posted for a couple days now on and off.

I see that bushy tail sitting on the bag and there is just one thing I can't quite figure out.

While I can see how "bushy" could get a pre-measured charge out of the bag, and a ball, and manage to get both up to the muzzle with a bit of climbing,

I just can't quite figure out how he uses the ramrod to get it rammed home so he can fire that pretty gun

What is the ghost like face in the background?  Looks like a face with some kind of frontier/Indian headgear.

I would rather hunt squirrels than any other animal.

That's called "Ground". We used to have such a substance in Ohio long ago, but it has long been lost to antiquity. I saw some in a dream the other night, but that can be chalked up to tacos before bedtime I think.

Avirc, I had not noticed the object in the background. I zoomed in on it and don't have a clue. I appreciate all of the comments. I really posted the photo because I thought it was well done for a cell phone. But to brag a little. I am very proud of both my sons. One is a VP of a large company in North Alabama and my youngest, Mason, is a K-9 Officer in North Louisiana. They are 2 of the finest men around. My oldest grandson, 13, is wanting to start deer hunting. His father has found them a place to hunt in Alabama so I guess I need to start another rifle. Spending time in the woods with your kids is well worth it.  Danny

I like your last sentence. Reminds me of something Cotton Cordell said many years ago. I forget how it went , but is something like this " Teach your Kid to love God, Teach a kid to hunt & fish , when that kid becomes a teen no dope dealer can teach him anything"...

Didn't notice it till ya'll pointed it out.  Does kind of resemble a face.  I will definitely check it out next time I go back out there.  Hopefully I find a wad of moss, and not an Indian ghost. Lol.  -Mason

What about the face on the tree the rifle is leaning on?  Left eye just above the strap buckle, right eye closed (winking?), nose about even with the buckle, white moustache or teeth below.

I saw the same face Ron! I had called my wife in to look at the "ghost image" when I asked if she also saw the face in the tree bark! She could! But I'm a old cloud watcher and see many things in nature!

I put the picture up, held down Ctrl and scrolled my mouse to move the picture in and make it bigger. The bigger it got the more detail you can see in the image. It's almost enough to scare ya or make you believe in ghost!
