Fruwirth over/under inlet
« on: February 20, 2014, 12:22:40 AM »
Just finished up inletting a set of Ed Rayl barrels for a Fruwirth double.   Thought I would share a couple of pictures of the completed inlet.  I still need to cut the ramrod groove and drill the ramrod hole but aligning two blind breeches both fore and aft as well as side to side is enough stress for one day.  Is 1 pm too early for a drink? ;D

Dave, that is some wowie inletting.

Two locks, like one on each side, one with a deep touch hole?

I assume the RR will fall between the tow barrels, on one side or the other. Pretty cool stuff!

Tom,
Here is a picture of the Fruwirth.  This gun is right up your alley.  I am not building the rifle.  I am only inletting the barrels for the maker.

I had no idea what a Fruwirth double was so I did the only logical thing... I Googled for Images and info. That started me on an hour & a half tour of some beautiful old world German gunsmith craftsmanship. Thank you for a very enjoyable hour & a half!!!!

Praying we'll see some updates from the builder and definitely need some finished project glimpses!

No, Dave, I'm regressing, trending toward folk art. I like the folk because it's warmer, and more of the maker shows thru the work and design.

High art stuff is really impressive, and I'm serious about this, but it leaves me cold.

Dave, your inletting is really the best I know of. Keep us posted, eh. Keep up the good work.
