Browning lock

I am curious about what temperature the frizzen on my Chambers Deluxe Siler can be heated to before ruining the heat treatment? I have a DVD on building rifles by Turpin and he shows browning the lock with Birchwood Caseys plumb brown and using a torch. My other furniture came out just fine using my oven at 260 deg. was  wondering if that would be too hot for the lock parts. Leon

Done it many times. Never a problem.  Heat it just hot enough to sizzle the solution.

You would have to exceed 400 degrees at least to cause problems, 375 is a typical draw temp for frizzens.
