keeping fresh sealer/finish

being a cheapskate, i hate throwing out 3/4 of a $12 can of gummed-up, skinned over sealer.... because I take so long between projects. 
I also got tired over putting in and fishing out 1/2-inch steel balls (as space fillers in the original can).
Pipetted into job-sized vials with no air in headspace. 
Should keep things fresh until needed.
Ditto with new jar of Chambers finishing oil too.  Labeled well.
Stole the foil cap-liner technique from genetics lab people who are anal about sterility and sealing out air.

With Tru Oil, the easiest thing is to twist the cap on tight and store it upside down.  That way, the air bubble is on top (upside down) and the thin "skin" of slightly hardened oil is there as well.  When you turn the bottle right side up to take more out, that skin is now on the bottom of the bottle and you get clean oil from the top.

I buy them on ebay 35 to a pack for $15. Use the search Glass vial and it should come up.

This is the method we use for storing 100 year old varnish and mixed paints for decoy restoration.

I just put carbon dioxide over the top in the can.
That's the "fizz" from vinegar and baking soda.

I just use Bloxygen. Jamestown has it cheaper than most.

Ulimate Cheap.
Take a deep breath, hold it for a short amount of time, exhale gently into the jar or can.  Our lungs get rid of  CO2 all the time. Then turn the jar upside down.

I've been doing sorta the same thing, but I use empty whiskey miniatures for the bottles.  More fun to get 'em empty!
