Has anybody read "THE MORTIMER GUNMAKERS, 1753 - 1923", by H. Lee Munson ?
How much of the book is about dueling pistols?
Are there pictures suitalble to draw patterns from?

It is not a very good book for what you want. It does not contain a lot of phoytos. Probably the best book for what you want is the W. Keith Neal Auction catalog from Christies auctions. It is very rare and at last check it cost somewhere between $175 and $500 . What kind of pistol are you planning to make? Holster or pocket pistol?

If you tell me what type of pistol you want to build, someone, like me, will scan the appropriate pages in Great British Gunmakers and/or the auction catalog that Jerry mentioned and send them along.

Tom,
I'm thinking of a pair of full stock english duellers, based on Mortimer, Wogden, Barton or Twigg. I Like the grips with a flat strip on the sides.

On page 59 in "The British duelling pistol! by J.A.Atkinson, there is a picture of a pair of Wogden duellers with a ornamental strip of of silver covering the sides of the  butts. I'd like to do something similar with silver filigree (Like the bison powder horn I made).

 It would be great if you could scan some pictures for me . Could they be sent by e-mail?

Rolfkt,

Dueling pistols it is!  I can scan them and save them as either PDF files or jpeg files and them send them along as attachments to an email.  The jpeg files would be easier for you to manipulate but if I scan them at high resolution your email service might bounce them back.  I'll try to find time tomorrow to do some of the scans.  I'll send you a message on the board with my email address to which you can reply off board with yours.
