Fusil de Traite ramrod pipe question
« on: March 27, 2014, 07:43:01 AM »
Question if I may on a French trade gun I'm patterning after the Regency period guns around 1730.  Got two of the three ramrod pipes faceted and starting to think of the entry pipe.  None of the guns in Kevin Gladysz  The French Trade Gun in North America show the trailing end of the ramrod entry pipe.  Safe to assume it just tapers to a point like my pencil mark?

I'd rather ask now and not wish I had later.  Any thoughts?  Originals are hard to come by.  Appreciate any help you all can offer.

The Museum of the Fur Trade published vol 1 of a series they are doing. Volume 1 is on guns (volume 2 will be on textiles). It shows French as well as English trade guns. I'm at work right now, so I don't have my copy handy. I might be able to scan and email you some pictures when I get a chance.

I was disappointed in the book. A lot of the pictures were quite small without a great deal of detail. It was a bit over priced for the quality (printed in China).
