  Thanks guys, some very nice compliments. It was a nice suprise to see it there this morning, have not seen that one for a while. I check out Art and Jan's web site almost every day, it's a wonderful thing and must be a lot of work to keep up with, something new every day!
 Ken I took those pictures, maybe three years ago, probably longer than that now I think about it. I know I have some more and I can't find them, I'll keep looking. That rifle is one of the two in the Muzzleloader magazine article from last year. I really liked how that one turned out, I borrowed it so many times to take to shows that the owner started to call it "our rifle", as in " hey Ian, I bet you are calling so you can borrow our rifle again.."

   Here are some pictures of a little rifle I borrowed to take to the Lewisburg show, don't think anybody has seen pictures of this one.

Both rifles have that "it" factor. So many people think of a rifles value by how many inlays or how much carving it has. This is human nature. The truth is a quick Picasso scetch is worth more than a fair painting of a horse that took 3 months.

Fancy only counts if it adds. And sometimes it detracts.

Killer rifle.  Tell is more about the rifle on the blog.  What is the wood- looks open porous.  Great color too.  Love the comb.

Rich that one was made with a piece of ash, stained with nitric acid stain. Had a .45 cal Getz barrel that was a bit over 45 inches in length if I am remembering right. The lock was one of Chambers late Ketlands modified a little and engraved. The rest of everything is hand made. It had a neat little pewter muzzle cap, I'll show you all if I can find the pictures of it.

Nice work again Ian!

There have been several nice iron mounted pieces up there in the past few days.  Ron Borron's Lawing rifle is sure nice - and how about that Chuck Edwards gun!  That gun has just everything that I like about Chuck's work - not too much, not too little, clean lines, and clean work, just enough decoration in the way of subtle touches.

Ron's, Ian's and Chuck's rifles on there really show the range of iron mounted guns guys are making today - everything from a near copy of an original to a highly stylized contemporary work that still shows the influence of original pieces.  They all have their merits, in my opinion.
