Where to use an Early Ketland Lock
« on: March 29, 2014, 07:56:28 PM »
I have an early Ketland and am starting the planning stages of the next build.  Right now I am sort of leaning towards pre-revolution period Lancaster, but I'm not 100% convinced that an English lock would be entirely appropriate. Where would you use this lock, and why ?

Be right at home on a Virginia rifle. Here is a Virginia chunk gun by our own Mark Elliot:

Some American fowling guns used a similar lock. I have 2 of em waiting for cherry stocks & long barrels.

Carolina is an interesting suggestion that I hadn't thought about. That would lead to the Moravian gunshop, which sort of takes us back to Lancaster, but not quite. The best thing about the planning stage is that it can go off in so many different directions.
