Doc Watson was a wonderful musician who transcended playing styles. He could do Bluegrass, Old Time, Folk, Country - anything he did was well done.
I must agree with Bob Roller about Eddie and Martha Adcock. They not only are fine musicians, but also fine people. When I lived in Charlottesville, VA many years ago, I told Eddie Adcock that I had a crush on his wife, Martha. He took it well and didn't clobber me with his banjo.
There is a video on Youtube of Eddie having electrodes placed in his brain while he plays the banjo. When they had the right spot for the electrical stimulation, his tremors stopped and he could play. If they moved the electrodes slightly, he couldn't play. The video is really quite dramatic.
Oh, and I have to confess to being a Bluegrass banjo player.
I do it for fun, not a profession. (There goes my reputation!
