pocket journal

Here is my interpretation of a pocket journal. There are 22 pages of parchment made from deerskin. The pages are sewn together in four books of four pages with one book in center with six pages. The cover is oak tanned cowhide. All sewn with heavy linen thread.

What did you use for paper?

 The pages are parchment made from thin deerskin. I tanned a hide from a very small button buck a few years ago and it seemed too thin for anything else so I cut it into rectangles and sewed this little book. I tried writing on a scrap with quill and ink and it works very well.

I would like to know how you made it ? looks like a project I would like to do for myself to keep track of sells when I start going to shows and shoots

Ed, start by googling "long stitch binding." Lots out there. You'll have it aced in an afternoon.

That is what I did. I googled book binding and found lots of info. As always some useful and some not. I made a cardboard pattern for the cover and tested my stitching technique for attaching the cover before I punched the holes in the leather.
