hidden hinge PB

Here's the scoop~ I decided to do it this way...the lid has a slight radius to it...so that meant the lid had to have some clearence...and in my ususal eclectic rifle building technique :stir:  I re-did the lid from square to a radii and with a little design on the end~
i t will be further trimmed in the hinge area inside the 'box' so no snagging edges are left~

I used .05 brass....the .03 seemed a little flimsy, and i beat it and wrangled it, now it needs sanding one more time to feather metal to the wood..........

Looking good!
I did a similar type of lid for my son's rifle

works really well...and yes...the curved lid takes a bit of  :P adjusting to fit!  the henge end of the lid is actually champhered to go sliglty underneath the finial making a "seamless" fit

John,
That looks really good!.....my clearance was somewhat compromised by having the sides on my box.....I think next time I will just do what you did, a single piece top. The back hinge point is important!!!....I too have a small bevel on the lid....and scooped out the plate to allow it to lift....
I would be interested in more pictures if you have them...... ;D
