Fellas, now that I bought Shelby's books on Kentucky Gunmakers.....I have 2 more rifles I want to build.
A Lexington rifle early one, Bryan, 1815ish...with hidden hinge PB, nice wood, brass furniture, etc.
And a Barrens rifle of Blair or Matthis 1820-1830, plain jane type, iron furniture.

Question is, anybody here built these schools of rifles? What was your barrels, TG, PB, BP, triggers????
I am starting a 'morgue' of information.....I do have a Lancaster to finish, then a Moravain , with a stopover to do a early virginia for a feller, but....I am from Lexington, and the Virginia/southern mountain rifle style I see in these working mans rifles has me caught fast!!!!
Shelby......you've created a monster......I will go to the poorhouse now...
I MUST BUILD RIFLES...........

Go to the Contemporary Longrifle Association Annual in Lexington August 15-16. There will be plenty of builders/smiths and everything else there.

I was waiting for him to chime in, but Marv Kemper built a real fine Lexington, KY rifle for the CLA.   He is a member here.  You could PM him.
