Need a RR tip source...
« on: July 04, 2014, 01:31:34 PM »
Fellas, I need a iron RR tip, one with a slight taper, and tapped with 8-32 or10-32 inside threaded.
I saw one original years ago, and just like it's idea.....anybody know a supplier???

Tired of the TOTW brass ends.......

One of Herschel's videos has a section on making one; using a nail set as a form.

"No man will be a sailor who has contrivance enough to get himself into a jail; for being in a ship is being in a jail, with the chance of being drowned... a man in a jail has more room, better food, and commonly better company."

Hey Kaintuck, Thanks for posting pictures on the other thread.
Hey, can you ask Tom Tom if he noticed how that tip from Cabin Creek was made? Was it drilled from a solid material, or was it made from sheet material that was wrapped and brazed?
Whet

PS: Also wondering when Tom Tom might graduate from apprentice to journeyman... Just wondering, you know. I might want to put in an order for a new Lancaster once he sets up shop... ;)

Plb, tomtom said it was a turned piece from metal......didn't see it as a wrapped/brazed tip.
I will look at the CLA show next month to see if there are different ones.....maybe someone at Dixons could share who has what......

As for tom tom......he is turning Mexican on us......taking more and more siestas ....and they are getting longer......found him today sleeping in the sandpaper box.......flattened all the rolls ::)

Useless kat........
